For clean healthy teeth, brushing is a must. American Dental Association strongly recommends daily brushing.
 
· It recommends brushing teeth twice every day. Brushing should be carried on gently and patiently.
· Soft bristled brushes and fluoride toothpaste must be used for efficient brushing.
· The toothbrush should be held at a 45 degrees angle and brushed gently
· Harsh scrubbing must be avoided for it tends to damage the gums
· A toothbrush should not be used for long and replaced by a new one within every 3-4 months

Flossing is very important:

· It is the process that helps to reach the areas that brushes can’t reach.
· Dental floss of about 18 inches should be taken and wrapped around the middle finger. The same thing should be done with the middle finger of the other hand. About an inch of floss should be left out for cleaning the tooth
· Each and every tooth should be given individual attention. The floss should be rubbed on the inner and outer surface of the tooth
· Waxed variety can be used if you have any trouble using the floss
· Other interdental cleaners can also be used conveniently

You can also use antiseptic mouth fresheners or anti microbial to clean mouth. Oral irrigators can also be used for removal of food particles from teeth. This however cannot be a substitute for flossing and brushing.

You must visit a dentist immediately when suffer from any of these following problems.

· Redness in the gums or swollen gums
· If gums are pulling away from your teeth
· Changes in your bottom and top teeth alignments
· Sudden sensitivity to temperature changes

More facts:

· If the oral problems are detected in an early stage and proper treatments are provided you can be assured of a problem free healthy teeth and gums
· Washing your mouth after every meal is very important to prevent accumulation of bacteria and tartar on your teeth.
· Plaque is also responsible for gingivitis which is a kind of gum disease that may cause redness of your gums. Gums should be taken care of, for it is the gums that hold the teeth.
· The teeth may loosen if the gums are not healthy. Bad breath unhealthy gums can make your mouth sore so to prevent any such adverse conditions, brushing and flossing should be carried on regularly.
· With cavities and unhealthy gums, eating food also becomes an ordeal moreover smiling openly in front of your friends and colleagues can be a cause of great embarrassment for you.
